Palo Alto Networks has finalized the acquisition of IBM’s QRadar SaaS assets for $500 million, marking a major step in the company’s quest to enhance its AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities. The deal allows Palo Alto Networks to integrate QRadar into its Cortex platform, which provides advanced Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) services.
This acquisition will significantly boost Palo Alto’s efforts to deliver fully automated, cloud-delivered security solutions to enterprises.
As part of the agreement, IBM will migrate its QRadar SaaS customers to Palo Alto’s Cortex XSIAM platform. To ensure this transition goes smoothly and at minimal cost, IBM has trained over 1,000 consultants on the new platform, equipping them with the skills necessary to support clients during the migration.
The seamless integration process is a priority, allowing businesses to safeguard their networks without major disruptions.
Palo Alto Networks’ CEO, Nikesh Arora, highlighted the importance of this acquisition in responding to the rising complexity of cyber threats:
“We are on a mission to help organizations transform their security operations and harness the potential of Precision AI-powered platforms to better protect their businesses. Our partnership with IBM reinforces our commitment to innovation and our conviction in the tremendous benefit of QRadar customers adopting Cortex XSIAM for a robust, data-driven security platform that offers transformative efficiency and effectiveness in defending against evolving cyber threats.”
This move positions Palo Alto Networks as a key player in developing cloud-based, AI-driven cybersecurity systems, enabling companies to automate threat detection and response.
While IBM has sold its QRadar SaaS assets, the company will maintain its leadership in cybersecurity by concentrating on hybrid cloud security and AI projects. Notably, IBM’s global workforce, which includes over 250,000 employees, will begin using Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma SASE solution to secure its operations. This collaboration ensures that IBM remains at the forefront of data security despite divesting the QRadar business.
